White-ball and Red-ball World Champion Australian captain Pat Cummins has revealed that Jasprit Bumrah is his favorite cricketer at the moment. 

Pat Cummins made these comments recently while speaking to a local media outlet that had asked him to state his favorite cricketer from team India. Instead of naming the likes of senior batter Virat Kohli or captain Rohit Sharma, Cummins chose to go with his bowling counterpart Jasprit Bumrah.

While speaking to the Humans of Bombay channel, Pat Cummins had high praise for Jasprit Bumrah. Cummins' recent remarks on Bumrah being his favorite Indian cricketer isn't the first time that the Australian heaped appreciation for the Indian seamer. 

In the past as well, most notably in 2019, Cummins had given his support and expressed his admiration for Jasprit Bumrah. The duo have been easily their country's best bowlers in the recent past and are also one of the world's best bowlers at the moment.

Pat Cummins had labeled Jasprit Bumrah as a class act for the two special qualities that the latter contains. Cummins stated that not only does Bumrah bowl it fast but he also bowls very accurately and that these qualities actually pose a threat to batters. 

The Australian right-arm seamer had further hailed Jasprit Bumrah for his slower balls and for his outstanding cricketing brain. 

"He is obviously a class act. Two of the basics he does really well is that he bowls fast and he bowls accurately. Anyone who does that in world cricket will pose a real challenge for the batsmen. He has got a great slower ball, seems to have a great cricketing brain, executes his skills really well," Cummins had said in 2019. 

Both of them have been parts of some amazing cricketing games and it is indeed a pleasure for the fans to see them bowl. While Pat Cummins was a part of the Australian team that defeated the Indian team in the 2023 World Test Championship final, Jasprit Bumrah had missed out due to an injury.

Then during the 2023 Cricket World Cup final in Ahmedabad, Jasprit Bumrah saw his Aussie counterpart lead his nation towards their 6th CWC title. Bumrah was an imperative part of the Indian team which went up to the CWC 2023 finale without losing a single game in the league stages. 

Pat Cummins on the other hand, led the Australian team to the final through a very tough situation. They arrived at the World Cup not as favorites to win the competition all because of their loss in the ODI series against India prior to the World Cup. 

The Aussies had lost their opening two games against India and South Africa, two opponents whom they eventually defeated when it mattered the most. 

Cummins to meet Bumrah in the ICC T20 World Cup

After already coming head-to-head twice in IPL 2024, Pat Cummins and Jasprit Bumrah will come face-to-face possibly during the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Although India and Australia have been drawn into different groups but they might face each other during the knockouts or maybe even in the finals.
