Sri Lanka takes on India in a T20 series in Pallekele. The first t20I starts at 7 pm IST. All three matches will be played in Pallekele.

The Lankans are currently placed eighth on the ICC T20I rankings. They endured a tough World Cup facing a league-stage exit. Wanindu Hasaranga stepped down as the T20I skipper of the side. Charith Asalanka will lead the side in this series.

Sri Lanka have injury problems heading into the first T20I. Nuwan Thusara injured his left thumb at practice on Wednesday and was ruled out of the series. Dusmantha Chameera has also been ruled out due to health issues. He is yet to recover from a respiratory infection.

Asitha Fernando replaced Chameera while Dilshan Madushanka replaced Thusara in the squad. Angelo Mathews and Dhanajaya de Silva have been left out while Chandimal and Kusal Perera have been recalled.

The batting revolves around Pathum Nissanka, Avishka Fernando, Charith Asalanak, and Kusal Perera. The bowling looks the more balanced with Hasaranga, Theekshana, and Dunith Wellalage being the spin trio.
