Pakistan will face Sri Lanka in the third match of the Pakistan T20I tri-series. This article provides details about Sri Lanka's Playing 11 vs Pakistan for the third match of the series.
Sri Lanka Playing XI vs Pakistan- Pakistan T20I Tri Series 2025, Match 3:
Openers: Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis (wk)
Sri Lanka would be disappointed with the effort the team put in with the bat while chasing a manageable total against Zimbabwe in their tri-series opener.
The visitors would like to get things sorted in the upcoming match against Pakistan, so that they don't find themselves in a do-or-die situation going forward in the series.
Regardless of the poor outing with the bat in the previous match, the Lankan Lions would be confident of making a strong comeback against the home team, as they have done so in the past.
Having said that, the former T20 World Cup winners would want the opening pair of Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis to get the team off to a good start in the first six overs.
Individually as well, both batters would be banked upon to play match-winning innings, as they can turn the match in Sri Lanka's favour once they are set
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Kusal Perera, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Kamindu Mendis, Dasun Shanaka (c), Wanindu Hasaranga
Like the openers, the Sri Lankan middle order also has the firepower to get the opposition bowlers under pressure, and the team management would want it to click against an in-form bowling lineup of Pakistan.
The likes of Kusal Perera, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, and Kamindu Mendis would be itching to rectify the mistakes they made against Zimbabwe and bat intelligently while batting first or while chasing.
The responsibility will be on the captain, Dasun Shanaka, as well to lead from the front and tackle the Pakistani spinners and bring his attacking approach against spinners in play.
The onus will be on the top five batters of Lanka to score the majority of the runs for the team and lay a platform for captain Dasun Shanaka and former captain Wanindu Hasaranga to capitalise on.
Bowlers: Maheesh Theekshana, Dushmantha Chameera, Nuwan Thushara, Eshan Malinga
As far as the bowling is concerned, it did a decent job by restricting Zimbabwe to a chasable total of 162 runs and would wish to keep up the good work in the next match against Pakistan.
It was a complete bowling performance where every bowler chipped, except Nuwan Thushara, who was a bit expensive, giving away 30 runs in three overs without picking up a wicket.
Thushara would aim to make a strong comeback in the game against Pakistan, which happens to be a crucial game for Lanka in the context of their position in the series.
Lanka is expected to go into the match with the same bowling combination of two spinners and three fast bowlers, with Dushmantha Chameera, Nuwan Thushara, and Eshan Malinga handling the fast bowling department.
The responsibility of Sri Lanka's spin bowling department will be on experienced spinners Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana.
