The year continues to get better and better Jharkhand and Mumbai Indians swashbuckling wicketkeeper-batsman, Ishan Kishan.
After having made his T20I debut earlier this year, Kishan has now been handed his maiden ODI cap in the first game of the three-match series against Sri Lanka at the iconic R. Premadasa stadium in Colombo.
And, what better occasion than today for Ishan Kishan to make his ODI debut for Team India.
Kishan, the former Indian U-19 skipper, is celebrating his 23rd birthday today, and by making his debut on the day of his birth, he has become just the second Indian cricketer to do so.
Kishan has joined former Indian cricketer, Gursharan Singh, to achieve a rare feat.

Singh, a right-handed batsman, is the first Indian player to make his ODI debut on his birthday.
The former cricketer achieved the feat during a March 8th, 1990, One-day International between India and Australia in Hamilton.
It was the 5th match of the Rothmans Cup tri-nation series between India and the Aussies, which the latter eventually won by 7 wickets.
Gursharan Singh did not have a particularly memorable outing as he managed a 10-ball 4 while batting at N0.6. He was dismissed by Peter Taylor.
Unfortunately, the debut ODI proved to be the first and the final game for Gursharan Singh, something Ishan Kishan will hope isn’t the case with him.

As mentioned earlier, Kishan made his T20I debut for Team India against England in Ahmedabad, and he made his presence felt immediately as be he smashed a high-class match-winning half-century.
He was also conferred with the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his swashbuckling match-winning knock.
The Jharkhand lad will be hoping for a similar sort of start to his ODI career later today.
