Sri Lanka and South Africa go head to head in match 4 of the T20 World Cup 2024 on Monday, June 3 in New York. The match starts at 8 pm IST which is 9.30 am local time.

Sri Lanka are led by Wanindu Hasaranga while Aiden Markram will lead South Africa. The Proteas recently were whitewashed by West Indies in a T20I series without their senior players playing in it. The big players will return to the squad for the T20 World Cup.

The Proteas are yet to win a major ICC tournament and this T20 World Cup they get another opportunity. Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje will both play in the tournament bolstering the bowling attack. The two spinners Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi also add depth to the bowling attack.

They won against Zimbabwe 2-1 in January, 2-1 against Afghanistan in February, and tied 1-1 against Bangladesh in March. The Lankans have won the tournament previously in 2014.

Alongside Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana is the other premier spinner in the World Cup squad alongside Dunith Wellalage who is the third spinner. The pace attack is led by Dilshan Madushanka who missed the IPL due to injury but will recover for the first match in time. Dusmantha Chameera, Matheesha Pathirana, and Nuwan Husara who recently played in the IPL add potency to the Lankan bowling attack.
