Stuart Broad destroys David Warner with facts for taking cheap shots at Joe Root
PC: X

Former Australian opener David Warner has faced intense criticism from English pacer Stuart Broad for taking a dig at Joe Root.

England has made a significant rise in Test cricket, especially with the Bazball style of play. However, other than signifying Bazball, Joe Root has been an irreplaceable part of the Test team. The batter has been unstoppable in all aspects of the game.

Joe Root has been English cricket's major anchor over the years; with 13000+ Test runs, he has now surpassed former Australian captain Ricky Ponting's run tally and is the second-highest run-getter in the red-ball format.

Stuart Broad slams David Warner for unnecessary dig at Joe Root

Former Aussie southpaw slammed Joe Root for not being successful enough on Australian soil, where he is yet to score a hundred. According to Warner, he urged Root to retain form, as he often has the tendency to be dismissed by Josh Hazlewood.

The English batsman has many runs but no hundred in Australia, and hence the remark came from David Warner.

He said, "The big anchor there is Rooty (Joe Root), who is yet to score a hundred in Australia. Josh Hazlewood tends to have his number quite a lot. He will have to take the surfboard off his front leg."

Former English pacer Stuart Broad looked offended by David Warner's comments on one of England's greatest ever Test batters and hence took it upon himself to bring the credible stats in front of the world.

To this, Stuart Broad, the legendary English paceman, responded, saying, "I’ve never heard England’s best-ever batters front pad called a Surfboard,."

"Just for clarity. Hazelwood has got Rooty LBW in Test Cricket 3 times. Three," he added.

Josh Hazlewood has troubled Root in Australia

Joe Root is currently the best English batter and the World no. 1 Test batter; hence, England would need runs from his bat as they advance off to the Ashes against Australia, since the batter looks for his maiden hundred.

Considering the Australian pace attack, Joe Root has been dismissed 10 times in 18 innings by Josh Hazlewood, while Pat Cummins has dismissed him 11 times.

"It all comes down to the bowlers," Warner said. "If the English bowlers can put a dent in the Australian top order, then they will come into the contest," Warner further commented.

India vs England series at stake at The Oval

The India vs England Test has been an absolutely sensational competition, as the end has come with the final Test at The Oval. England is currently leading the series with a scoreline of 2-1, while the Indians aim for a victory at The Oval.

A victory would lead the series to a 2-2 draw, and the two teams would then share the much-deserved Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, while as of now, India has the upper hand, with several runs on the board in the second innings.

All thanks to the Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and the charismatic nightwatchman innings played by Akash Deep. Despite the captain's dismissal, India looks good, with Jaiswal scoring his second hundred in the series.
