Former English pacer Stuart Broad picks a combined India-England playing 11 after the recently concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. He has made some shocking picks while leaving out a few, which have been even more shocking.
The conclusion of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, which ended in a 2-2 draw between India and England, was marked with India's dramatic win by 6 runs in the final Test at The Oval. The series ended after being one of the most thrilling contests in the history of red-ball cricket.
Former English fast bowler Stuart Broad made an appearance in a podcast titled 'For The Love of Cricket,' where he was asked to pick a combined best 11, and the former bowler obliged by picking a promising team.

For his openers, the former English paceman made a shocking choice first up, as he sidelined Ben Duckett and went on to pick the two Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul as the openers on his side.
Jaiswal ended up scoring 411 runs in the series with an average of 41.10, while KL Rahul scored 532 runs at an average of 53.20, both having scored 2 hundreds and as many half-centuries each.
His second shocking move came in the middle order, where he had sidelined the likes of Indian skipper Shubman Gill, the highest scorer in the series, and picked three Englishmen, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, and Harry Brook. Root was England's highest scorer with 537 runs, while Brook added 481 runs and Pope ended up scoring 306 runs.
Rishabh Pant, who had a terrific series in England and was honoured for his courageous attempt to bat with a fractured foot in Manchester, was the wicket-keeper in Stuart Broad's side.
Broad had already left out Shubman Gill from the 11; he further cited Washington Sundar as the all-rounder over Ravindra Jadeja, suggesting his impact was all-round with both the bat and ball. Ben Stokes and Washington Sundar were the two all-rounders picked by Broad.
Finally, the England legend went with three pacers in the team: Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj from India, and Jofra Archer from the English side. Stuart Broad did not validate the efforts of Gus Atkinson on his comeback Test or England's highest wicket-taker, Josh Tongue.
Broad's massive praise for Mohammed Siraj
Stuart Broad has largely praised the efforts of Indian speedster Mohammed Siraj for excelling under intense pressure situations whenever he is subjected to leading the pace attack in Jasprit Bumrah's absence.
Broad recognized that Siraj is one of those players who thrive on responsibility and grow as a leader once they are handed a key role.
"He just looks like someone who thrives off the responsibility. He looks someone who wants the ball. I'm not saying he has less motivation when Bumrah's playing, but I think he likes that added responsibility. He is someone who looks to grow a little bit when Bumrah's not there. He grows when he's leading the attack. It's a great strength to have," he said.
Siraj ended the match as the Player of the Match after having won the game for India with the figures of 9/190 in India's historic win at The Oval.
Shubman Gill sidelined despite being Player of the Series
Despite having a splendid series with the bat, where he scored 754 runs in the series with an average of 75.40 and 3 big hundreds alongside that one historic double century at Edgbaston, Shubman Gill was not picked for the combined XI by Stuart Broad.
He has also been praised for evolving as a captain throughout the series, as his involvement with the players, as well as on the field, could be noticed, and his spirit has been electrifying ever since the Lord's Test.
Broad's Combined XI: Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes, Rishabh Pant, Washington Sundar, Jofra Archer, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah.
