Suresh Raina backstabs best friend MS Dhoni; labels Rohit Sharma as the best white-ball captain

Former India cricketer Suresh Raina has approved Rohit Sharma's name as the best limited-overs captain in the cricketing world at the moment.

Suresh Raina, who is currently enjoying his holidays with his family in France, made this claim in his latest Instagram story. The appreciation comes days after the Indian team picked up a second consecutive victory over Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 and 2024.

It was India's 7th win against them in the competition and Rohit Sharma's 5th against the opposition as full-time captain.

For helping his side with the bat and with his tactical thinking, Rohit Sharma received a lot of plaudits from former cricketers in and around the world. After the win against Pakistan, Rohit will now shift his attention to India's final two Group A games against co-hosts USA and then against Canada. All the Indian fans will hope for the Men in Orange and Blue to enter the Super 8s undefeated.

Suresh Raina took a screenshot of former Australia captain Ricky Ponting speaking about Rohit Sharma's captaincy and uploaded it on his Instagram story. Above that screenshot, Raina wrote, "Best captain in white ball cricket". Raina's comments might have also come in light of team India's incredible and undefeated run-in to the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

The Indians hadn't lost a single game in the league stages as they won 9 out of the 9 matches but unfortunately, Rohit Sharma and co. lost the finale. They choked when it mattered the most and squandered a golden opportunity to claim their third World title and first since the 2011 CWC also on home soil.

Nonetheless, the tournament will forever be remembered for Rohit Sharma's flawless captaincy, Virat Kohli's incredible form, and Travis Head's heartbreaking knock. Ricky Ponting was seen having a chat with Rohit Sharma after India defeated Pakistan by 5 runs in New York. In a video uploaded by the ICC, Ponting revealed that he was telling the Indian captain that he was superb with his bowling changes and that his captaincy was just outstanding.

Ricky Ponting claimed that Rohit could not have done anything more than he did that morning. The Aussie had special praise for Rohit Sharma's ability to assess the situations and make bowling changes as required.

"Rohit Sharma is a very experienced captain isn't he I just saw him and then said mate your captaincy today was outstanding, I don't think he could have done much more. you think about a lot of the bowlers that he's got in his team. He understands them, knows when he can use them." - Ricky Ponting said via ICC.
