Bhuvneshwar Kumar is not a part of any of the three sides that has been picked for the series against South Africa. Meanwhile, Sanju Samson and Yuzvendra Chahal have been picked in the ODI squad for the three-match series.

The management has backed young players for the T20I series while experienced ones for the ODI and Test series. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are not a part of the Test and T20Is squads as well. So is Bhuvi who played his last ODI in January 2022 and his last T20I in November 2022 for the Men in Blue. He played his last Test way back in 2018.

Former Indian pacer RP Singh in his recent tweet expressed his surprise at Bhuvi’s exclusion from both the white-ball squads against South Africa. Given his ability to swing the new ball, the veteran Indian pacer would have been a handful in South African conditions.

” Am really surprised that @BhuviOfficial is not part of any of the white ball squads for South Africa tour. I have seen him closely this season and he looked in great shape and spirit” said RP Singh in his tweet.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was not a part of India’s World Cup squad as well that made the final of the tournament. The management decided to go with Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. The trio picked up more than 50 wickets together with Shami picking 24 alone.

Arshdeep Singh, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar and Deepak Chahar are the four specialist seamers picked in the T20I squad. Mohd Shami, Mohd Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur are the seamers picked in the Test squad. Mukesh Kumar, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Deepak Chahar are the specialist seamers picked in the ODI squad.

Meanwhile, Bhuvi was retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. In the IPL Auction 2023, the Hyderabad franchise acquired the services of Bhuvneshwar Kumar for Rs 4.20 crores. He picked 16 wickets last season.
