'Surya Muralitharan, Rinku Kumble' - Twitter erupts as India win absolute nail-biter vs Sri Lanka in 3rd T20I to register clean sweep

Fans on Twitter reacted after India managed to win the last game of the three-match series against Sri Lanka. They won the final game of the series in the super over at the Pallekele International Stadium, Pallekele, and completed a 3-0 whitewash.

Asked to bat, India didn’t have the kind of start they would’ve wanted as Yashasvi Jaiswal fell for ten runs. The wicket of the left-hander triggered the collapse for the Indian team as they went on to lose quick wickets.

The visitors were reeling at 48 for five with all the big hitters back in the hut. It was Shubman Gill (39) and Riyan Parag (26) who joined hands and then bailed the team out of trouble with their 54-run stand, putting the pressure back on the Sri Lanka bowlers.

After the duo got out, Washington Sundar (25) ensured that India finished the innings as they ended with a total of 137 for nine. For Sri Lanka, Maheesh Theekshana was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of three for 28 while Wanindu Hasaranga bagged two scalps.

Sri Lanka were off to a solid start with the bat in the chase. Pathum Nissanka (26) and Kusal Mendis (43) added 58 runs for the opening partnership. After the right-hander got out, Kusal Perera (46) joined Mendis as they did further carnage, adding 52 runs for the second wicket.

India made a slight comeback as they picked quick wickets in the end and put Sri Lanka under pressure. Rinku Singh picked two wickets in the penultimate over to tilt the game in his team’s favor. With six runs needed off the last over, skipper Suryakumar Yadav introduced himself into the attack and picked two wickets in two balls.

He then did a brilliant job with the ball as they made sure his team didn’t lose as the match went into super over. In the super over, India ended Sri Lanka’s innings for just two runs and then chased the target in one ball to win the game and complete a 3-0 whitewash.
