Suryakumar Yadav And Manish Pandey Score Half-Centuries In India's Intra-Squad Practice Match

The Indian team which is currently in Sri Lanka for the six-match limited-overs series played their first intra-squad practice game which featured the likes of skipper Shikhar Dhawan and vice-captain Bhuvneshwar Kumar, captaining the two sides respectively.

The match report also revealed that Suryakumar Yadav and Manish Pandey scored half-centuries, while Ruturaj Gaikwad and Nitish Rana also had a good outing with the bat.

India and Sri Lanka will clash in six limited-overs matches from July 13 onwards, with R Premadasa Stadium hosting all the encounters. The ODI series will be played on July 13, 16, and 18, while the T20Is will be played on July 21, 23, and 25.

Both the BCCI and the Sri Lanka cricket board shared photos of the match which saw the Shikhar Dhawan-led team playing in the India kit and the Bhuvneshwar Kumar-led team donning the Indian team practice kit.

Manish Pandey Top-Scores With 63; Suryakumar Yadav Made 50 Plus

In a video posted by BCCI on their Twitter page, the India bowling coach on the Sri Lanka tour Paras Mhambrey recapped the game. Ruturaj Gaikwad made 30+ runs while Manish Pandey made the match’s highest score of 63. Suryakumar Yadav made a half-century while Devdutt Padikkal and Prithvi Shaw had a 50+ partnership.

BCCI has sent a second-string yet strong squad for the series with the Test team currently in the UK and arrived in Sri Lanka on Monday. They were allowed to practice outdoors after quarantining for three days. In absence of Ravi Shastri, this side is coached by NCA head Rahul Dravid.

The squad has as many as six uncapped players including Chetan Sakariya, K Gowtham, Nitish Rana, Devdutt Padikkal, Varun Chakravarthy, and Ruturaj Gaikwad. The side also features hopefuls Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, Prithvi Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav amongst others as this will be the last international series for India before the T20 World Cup 2021.

Earlier, the BCCI had shared some photos from the intra-squad match featuring Shikhar Dhawan, Nitish Rana, Manish Pandey, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Krunal Pandya in action.
