India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has now entered a beautiful new phase of his life amidst his struggles in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026), as he welcomed his first child with wife Devisha Shetty on Thursday, May 7.
The Mumbai batter has been going through a really tough phase for a long time now, and his struggles continue in the ongoing IPL 2027. The stylish batter has so far managed only 195 runs in 10 matches for the Mumbai Indians at a poor average of under 20 and strike rate of under 146.

Amid his poor run of form with the bat this season, Suryakumar Yadav has received the biggest happiness of his life as he and his wife Devisha Shetty have become parents to a baby girl on Thursday. The good news has been massive, as congratulatory messages are pouring in for the couple from all sides.

Suryakumar Yadav and Devisha’s beautiful love story
Notably, Suryakumar Yadav and Devisha Shetty first met in 2010 while studying at R.A. Podar College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai. Their friendship slowly turned into love, and after dating for almost six years, the couple got engaged in May 2016.
Later, they got married in July 2016 in a traditional South Indian wedding ceremony. After 11 years of marriage, the couple has now welcomed their first child. Devisha is a professional dance coach and also a trained Bharatanatyam dancer.
Earlier this year, pictures and videos from their baby shower ceremony went viral online, where fans showered love and blessings on the couple.

Mumbai Indians fighting for survival in IPL 2026
On the other hand, Mumbai Indians are currently struggling in the ongoing IPL 2026 and are placed ninth on the points table. They have won only 3 matches and lost 7 out of their 10 games so far this season. Recently, Mumbai registered an important 6-wicket victory against the Lucknow Super Giants, which kept their small playoff hopes alive for now.
Mumbai Indians now need to win all their remaining four matches to have any playoff chances this season. If Mumbai manage to win all four games, they will reach 14 points, but even then, their qualification could depend on other match results and their Net Run Rate (NRR).
MI’s remaining matches are against the strong teams, so the pressure is extremely high on the five-time IPL champions now. They will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 10 in Raipur, Punjab Kings on May 14 in Dharamsala, and Kolkata Knight Riders on May 20 in Kolkata, and the final league match is against Rajasthan Royals on May 24 in Mumbai.
