Suryakumar Yadav, the former T20I captain of the India National Cricket Team, who was once regarded as one of the most lethal T20 batters across the world, said that Jainism helped him to calm down a lot.
In a recent event in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Suryakumar Yadav opened up about his personal religious beliefs. For more than a year now, by following the path of Jainism, the former Team India captain has changed his personality. He can personally feel the changes within his personality.
Suryakumar Yadav explains the influence of Jainism on his personal life
At the JITO Premier League event, Suryakumar Yadav stated that in general, people think about business when the discussion is around the Jain Community. But the Jain Community is not only limited to business, but it also teaches people about discipline and hard work.
"When the name of the Jain community comes up, people often think only of business. But according to me, when the name of the Jain community comes up, the first things that come to mind are patience, discipline, and hard work. The rest is certainly there. Many people do business," Yadav said in the event.
He further mentioned that he recently visited a Jain youth event in Mumbai, where he revealed his trust in Jainism, which helps him to grow as a better human being.
"But the dedication, passion and hard work that I have seen over the last one to one-and-a-half years among all the Jains I have met is a little different. As you heard, I recently said that there was a Jain youth event in Mumbai, where I mentioned that I follow Jainism," Suryakumar Yadav added.

Yadav also revealed that in the recent matches, for the Indian cricket team during the T20 World Cup and with the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026), he used to chant Nambra Muni of the Jain community on a regular basis to calm down his mind.
"So, all the chanting, like when we play in the IPL, India's matches, and recently, when I played in the World Cup, I chanted so much with the Nambra Muni of the Jain community during the World Cup and during the IPL. So, there is such a difference. I myself have gone to a completely different level. I have calmed down a lot," Yadav concluded.

Everything about the JITO Premier League
JITO Premier League is another limited-overs tournament in Sri Lanka. The league is officially set to start on August 25 this year and will continue till September 5. All of the matches of the tournament will be held at the CCC Cricket Ground in Colombo. The tournament will be streamed live on Sony LIV.
A total of twelve teams will be in action as the league is set to unfold soon. On August 24, the tournament marked its opening ceremony at the ITC Ratnadipa in Colombo.
