Team India skipper Suryakumar Yadav faced the wrath of fans following his batting failure in the second T20I against Australia on Friday, October 31. The right-handed batter managed to score just one run off four balls before being dismissed by Josh Hazlewood at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne.

Suryakumar Yadav lost another toss in the second T20I, making it the Men in Blue's fifth consecutive loss on the Australia tour. Earlier, ODI captain Shubman Gill had lost all three tosses in the 50-over leg. In the ongoing T20I, Australia’s Mitchell Marsh once again won the toss and chose to bowl first in Melbourne.

He edged the very next ball to the keeper off a Test-match-style delivery from Josh Hazlewood. Notably, he got a reprieve the previous delivery when Josh Inglis dropped a straightforward chance.

The Indian skipper, who scored an unbeaten 39 in the rain-hit first T20I, was squared up by Hazlewood’s movement off the pitch, which produced the edge that Inglis safely collected.

Suryakumar’s recent form is a concern for the India team. He has scored only 145 runs in his last 15 innings at an average of just over 12. He has not registered a fifty in this period, with his most recent half-century coming in October 2024 against Bangladesh.

Fans on X (formerly known as Twitter) roasted Suryakumar Yadav after another low score. Many mocked his inability to deliver against stronger opponents, labeling him a “flat-track bully.” Some also stated that he passed the burden onto the middle order.

Suryakumar Yadav-Led India in Deep Trouble in the Second T20I vs Australia

Australia took control of the match following a superb spell from Josh Hazlewood, who dismantled India’s top order with figures of 3/13. He removed Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, and Tilak Varma. Nathan Ellis trapped Sanju Samson lbw for just two after his promotion to No. 3.

India collapsed to 49/5 after Axar Patel’s run-out. Abhishek Sharma counterattacked with an explosive half-century, standing tall as wickets tumbled around him.

At the time of writing, the Men in Blue were 85/4 after 12.3 overs, with Abhishek (50 off 23) and Harshit Rana (18 off 20) at the crease. The team management promoted Harshit Rana ahead of all-rounder Shivam Dube, a decision that surprised many in the cricket community.
