Suryakumar Yadav finally earned his reward for spectacular performances in the domestic circuit and IPL when the BCCI selected him for the upcoming five-match T20 series against England. Suryakumar Yadav was long overdue to play for the national team and, despite some heavy run-scoring, faced ignorance. The 30-year old revealed his emotions following receiving a maiden call-up to the Indian side.
The decision of not picking Suryakumar Yadav for the T20 series in Australia last year had already sparked plenty of backlash. The right-handed batsman had been performing admirably well in the last three IPL seasons for the Mumbai Indians, scoring at least 400 plus runs and playing a significant role in the franchise’s dominance. He had also been piling on the runs in first-class and List A cricket. Along with him, Ishan Kishan and Rahul Tewatia also earned maiden call-ups.

Suryakumar Yadav reveals that as he was sitting in a room and trying to watch a movie, he got a notification of his selection in the Indian team for the five-match T20 series. He immediately started crying and called his parents and sister. Yadav disclosed that they all had a video call and wept further.
“I was very excited as I got to know about the selection. I was sitting in the room, trying to watch a movie, and got a notification on the phone that I was picked in the Indian team for England T20Is. I started crying after seeing my name in the team. I called my parents, my wife, and my sister. We had a video call and all of us started crying,” Yadav said as quoted by BCCI.
They have also been trying to live this dream for a long time: Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav attributed his success to his family, who he credited for standing by him throughout and waiting for this moment. The Mumbai-born batsman felt ecstatic to see tears of happiness in their eyes and was delighted that his time had finally come.
“Along with me, they have also been trying to live this dream for a long time. It has been a very long journey and they are the ones who have stood by me throughout. It was really great to see them happy and have those tears of happiness. Everyone wants to play for India. But finally, my time has come,” he added.
