Former India cricketers Irfan Pathan and Varun Aaron, who are a part of the Star Sports commentary team for IPL 2024, engaged in an interesting discussion about MS Dhoni.

The duo, while analyzing last night's contest between CSK and LSG, created a hypothetical situation wherein MS Dhoni was included in the Indian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

The biggest mystery in the Indian team, which is awaiting to be solved at the moment is who will be the wicket-keeper batsman for the tournament.

Who will solve India's wicket-keeper batsman dilemma?

While some argue that Rishabh Pant should be given a direct entry, others have floated the names of Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson and RCB's Dinesh Karthik. Then there is another flock that wants to see MS Dhoni come out of retirement and put on the Blue jersey once again to help India claim the T20 WC.

MS Dhoni has fond memories of the tournament which he won as captain in only its inaugural edition back in 2007 in South Africa. That Indian team had defeated Pakistan in the finals and forever etched the country's name in the history books - as the first team to lift a T20 World Cup.

It was also MS Dhoni's 1st of the 3 ICC titles that he won as captain of the Indian team and since that Champions Trophy in 2013, the nation is awaiting its first major silverware.

Last year the Indians had squandered not one but two golden opportunities to get over the drought but on both occasions, it was an Australian team that increased their trophy count.

If the Indians, under Rohit Sharma's captaincy, are aiming to grab hold of their first ICC title in over 10 years, then having a solid WK batter in the middle-order is a must. With a few names on the card, it will be interesting to see who gets the nod from the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee.

Irfan Pathan and Varun Aaron discuss MS Dhoni's inclusion to the Indian team for T20 WC 2024

In their discussion about the T20 WC wicket-keeping prospects, Varun Aaron and Irfan Pathan dragged MSD into the conversation. It was the former pacer who started off by saying, "We could see a wildcard entry in India's T20 World Cup squad. MS Dhoni. Actually, it's the wildest card."

While making his point, Varun Aaron had a bright smile on his face. Then in his response, Irfan Pathan said that if Dhoni wants to play the World Cup, then no one has the right to deny him.

He then admitted that chances are quite low for that to happen but if that happens, it will be good for the Indian team since MSD is looking in a sensational touch.

"If he says he wants to play the T20 World Cup, no one will deny him that chance. It may not happen, but no one will mind, no one will have a problem with it. The guy is batting so well." - Irfan Pathan ended the conversation.
