Pakistan skipper Babar Azam came in support of fast bowler Hasan Ali who dropped a crucial catch that turned the game in Australia’s favour in the semi-final 2 of the T20 World Cup. Hasan Ali has been the least effective bowler among the Pakistan unit in this T20 World cup 2021, and he has been facing lots of criticism for leaking runs.
He conceded 44 runs in the 4 overs he bowled in the semi-final without taking a wicket and the worst part of it was that he dropped a catch of Matthew Wade at a time when Pakistan still had the game in their hands. Wade played a fine knock scoring an unbeaten 41 off 17 balls, and won the game for Australia with three consecutive sixes off Shaheen Afridi’s 19th Over.
“I Will Keep Backing Him” – Babar Azam
Babar Azam believed that every player is accustomed to dropping catches at times and threw his weight behind Hasan Ali for winning a lot of games for Pakistan. However, he added that it is important to make it a big day when the individual starts off well.
“I don’t feel like that. He is our main bowler and has won many matches for Pakistan. Players do drop catches sometimes. He is fighting it out, and I will keep backing him. Every player cannot perform in every game. Some individuals who are having a good day try to make the most of it and come up with good performances,” Babar Azam said in the post-match conference.
Babar Azam Admits Hasan Ali Is Heart Broken
Babar Azam mentioned that the Pakistan side will continue to back him and believe in his abilities despite his dismal show in the T20 World cup and admitted that drop catch cost them big.
“Yes, he is a bit down. We will keep backing him and giving him confidence. People will say a lot of things, but we are behind him,” he added.
Pakistan was the only unbeaten side in the T20 World cup 2021, and Australia managed to win the game despite the hiccups in the chase.
