T20 World Cup 2021: Babar Azam Is Young And New And In The End Could Not Keep Composed: Shoaib Akhtar

Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar has noted that the Pakistan side, due to a new and inexperienced captain, had panicked in the crucial stages, and it led to their downfall in the semi-finals. Pakistan, despite having a dream run in the T20 World Cup 2021, super 12 stages were outclassed by Australia at the time when it mattered the most.

Rizwan continued his tremendous form alongside Babar Azam at the top and Fakhar Zaman’s lusty blows, in the end, helped Pakistan reach a commendable total of 177. Australia stuttered at the start and lost five wickets before the 100 run mark.

Finally, Marcus Stoinis and Matthew Wade joined hands and pulled Australia to a stunning win to end the unbeaten run of Pakistan.

Shoaib Akthar Feels Australia Had The Base To Remain Composed

Shoaib Akhtar reckoned that Pakistan’s inexperience cost them in the end and felt that Australia had the culture, and base not to get scared in crunch situations. He added that Pakistan panicked in the end and said Babar Azam being a new captain, lacked composure.

“You have to agree here that our (Pakistan) captain is young and new and in the end could not keep composed.

“On the other hand, Australia is a mature team, and there they used their experience, culture, base to remain composed and did not get scared. Pakistan team, though, did not get scared but panicked,” Shoaib Akhtar told on his Youtube Channel.

“We Might Not Get Such An Easy Chance Ever Again” – Shoaib Akhtar

Shoaib Akhtar felt that this T20 World Cup 2021 was the best chance for them to win the tournament considering their good form and the set of players they had. He added that Australia was better on the semi-final day despite Pakistan dominating the Super 12 stages.

“He (Babar Azam) is a new captain, and I understand that, but winning 5 out of 6 games, I thought this was Pakistan’s World Cup to win. This could have been won. We might not get such an easy chance ever again. We tried our best, but the best was not good enough for yesterday. The better team won,” he added.

After the win against Pakistan, Australia will play against New Zealand in the final of the T20 World Cup 2021 on November 14.
