Former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull viewed his opinion on India’s performance in the T20 World Cup 2021 and felt that the poor scheduling was one of the factors for India’s exit. The T20 World Cup 2021 campaign for India has come to end as Pakistan, and New Zealand have qualified from Group 2, and Virat Kohli might have to sign his T20 World cup captaincy in the most painful way.

India’s early losses to Pakistan and New Zealand had a big impact on their progress to the semi-finals as the road was going to be very tough for them with the fortunes not in their hands. A lot of cricketers had their opinions on the reasons behind India’s early exit and Simon Doull made an interesting comment.

“The Game Against New Zealand Should Have Been The Final Contest” – Simon Doull

Simon Doull felt that the broadcasters’ hunt for scheduling during Diwali times had taken a toll on India’s chances. He added that India and New Zealand should have been in the final game, considering it as a virtual qualifier for the semifinals. Instead, India played Namibia in their final game, and it turned out to be a dead rubber in the end.

“I don’t know how to put this kindly, but There was a real air of arrogance around the scheduling, and that is what the broadcasters wanted with involvement from the ICC as they wanted India’s fixtures around the holidays around Diwali and all that, so they wanted those games at peak times.

‘Pakistan should have been the first game, but the game against New Zealand should have been the final contest. It should have been India against New Zealand for a place in the semi-final at the end,” Simon Doull said on Cricbuzz.

“It’s A Learning Curve As Well” – Dinesh Karthik

“Everyone expected the contest against Pakistan a walk in the park considering the talent we have. It’s a learning curve as well. I can give many reasons, but at the end of the day, India knows they did not play their best cricket,” Dinesh Karthik stated.

India hasn’t won an ICC trophy since 2013, and they will be eyeing to better their performance in the next T20 World Cup.
