T20 World Cup 2021: That Spell From Shaheen Afridi Was Unbelievable - Deep Dasgupta Comes In Support Of Indian Openers

Former Indian cricketer Deep Dasgupta mentioned that the spell from Shaheen Afridi was brilliant and reckoned that the Indian openers faced two extraordinary deliveries to get dismissed. However, both Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul looked in sublime touch in the warm-up games, and they had a big role to play against Pakistan.

However, Shaheen Afridi dismissed Rohit Sharma for a duck with a vicious inswinging yorker that curved in nicely. He went on to pick KL Rahul in his next over with another superb delivery. It dented India’s chances of putting up a big score on the board and eventually ended up losing the game by 10 wickets with 2.1 overs left. This is also India’s first loss to Pakistan in a world cup fixture.

“There Is Nothing Much You Can Do” – Deep Dasgupta

Deep Dasgupta reckoned that Shaheen Afridi’s deliveries were too good to not get dismissed, and he did not want to put much pressure on the Indian openers. He added that losing 3 wickets very early in the game will not help get back in the innings.

“Firstly, that spell from Shaheen Afridi was unbelievable. Two deliveries straight upfront. First delivery yorker to Rohit Sharma, and it is very difficult if you get a first delivery like that, there is nothing much you can do. Even with KL Rahul, the ball came in just a little bit, so those were brilliant deliveries. Once you lose 3 wickets early, then it becomes very difficult to get back in the game,” Deep Dasgupta told on his Youtube Channel.

Deep Dasgupta Predicts A India vs Pakistan Final

Despite the loss to Pakistan, Deep Dasgupta is confident that India will bounce back, and he predicted the finalists of ICC T20 World Cup 2021 to be India and Pakistan. However, he added that Pakistan’s squad is good enough to make it to the finals.

“I still feel we will see an India vs Pakistan final. I believe these are the 2 teams best equipped to deal with these conditions on offer. India will bounce back, that is for sure. Pakistan have the team to make it into the finals of the T20 World Cup,” he added.

Pakistan will next face New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2021 on Tuesday.
