Former Indian cricketer Deep Dasgupta feels that Australia’s top order is a huge concern for the team in ICC T20 World Cup 2021. The former Indian player also mentioned that some Australian players look undercooked as they are playing after a long time.

Australia are part of group 1 in ICC T20 World Cup 2021. They have strong teams like England, West Indies, and South Africa in their pool. Australia will play their opening game against South Africa on October 23. Australia last qualified for the semi-finals in T20 World Cup in the 2012 edition, when they lost to eventual champions West Indies.

Australia’s Top Order Is A Huge Concern In ICC T20 World Cup 2021: Deep Dasgupta

While speaking on his YouTube channel, Deep Dasgupta said that Australian bowlers like Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins are playing after a long time, and they look undercooked. He also mentioned that Australia do have a strong middle-order in batting, but the top order is a huge concern for them.

“The team is good enough, especially if you look at the bowling. Adam Zampa is among the top when it comes to the T20 rankings and you also have Mitchell Starc. However, some of the players are undercooked.

“Starc and Cummins are playing after a long time and they look undercooked. In pitches like these, Smith staying out in the middle is very important and so would Maxwell’s form. The real concern comes in the form of the top order, it is a huge concern,” Deep Dasgupta said.

Australia’s top order consists of openers Aaron Finch and David Warner. At the no.3 spot is Mitchell Marsh. Warner has been struggling with batting since the IPL 2021 UAE leg. Moreover, in the two warm-up games in ICC T20 World Cup 2021, he scored 0 and 1, respectively.

Moreover, Aaron Finch and Mitchell Marsh also failed to hit big knocks in the warm-up matches. Aaron Finch scored 24 and 8 in the two warm-up games, while Mitchell Marsh came up with 24 and 0. Australia defeated New Zealand by 3 wickets in the first warm-up match but lost to India in the 2nd warm-up match by 9 wickets.
