A number of players from England, West Indies, and Pakistan have moved up in the latest ICC Rankings for T20Is ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
England and Pakistan are currently involved in a four-match T20I series. Two of the first three games were washed out without a ball being bowled while the fourth game is scheduled to take place on Thursday (May 30). On the other hand, West Indies recently whitewashed South Africa in the three-match T20I series.
England captain Jos Buttler has moved up one place to seventh in the latest ICC Rankings for batters, thanks to his match-winning effort of 84 runs in the second T20I. While no other player could score a fifty in that game, Buttler led his team from the very front and scored 84 off 51 balls to power England to a 23-run win.
His teammate Jonny Bairstow has gained big after scoring 21 runs off 18 balls. The right-handed batsman has jumped eight places to 36th. Fakhar Zaman has also been rewarded for being Pakistan's highest run-scorer in the game.
The southpaw scored 45 runs from just 21 balls and has risen six places to 51st in the ICC Rankings. Talking about the gains made by West Indies players, three of them have moved up in the rankings. Opening batsman Brandon King has risen five spots to eighth while Johnson Charles has moved up 17 places to 20th. On the other hand, Kyle Mayers has jumped up 12 spots to 31st.
India star Suryakumar Yadav is currently the number one T20I batter in the world. Apart from him, Yashasvi Jaiswal (6) is the only other Indian batter in the top ten.
