Inaugural ICC T20 World Cup winner in 2007, S Sreesanth has picked his probable 15-man squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 this June.

S Sreesanth made one shocking omission of a capped explosive middle-order batsman from the squad and also included some unexpected names. The former right-arm fast bowler is not the only one who revealed his 15-man side for the T20 WC as the likes of Sanjay Manjrekar and Harbhajan Singh have also discussed their probable squads.

S Sreesanth picks a destructive batting line-up and picks some surprising names in the bowling department

Starting with the batting line-up, Sreesanth chose quite a destructive batting line-up for the Indian team. Along with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, he picked Yashasvi Jaiswal over Shubman Gill to pair with Rohit. There was no place for Ishan Kishan as the former pacer chose Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals captains Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson as the two wicketkeeping options.

For the middle-order, Sreesanth made some obvious choices like Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube. But the shocking part was that he omitted KKR's explosive batter Rinku Singh from the 15-man squad. The reason behind Rinku's absence could be because of the fact that he has had very minimal chances to bat this season.

Moreover, Rinku Singh hasn't got many balls to face in the matches that he has arrived to bat in. Another omission was of Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill. The right-hand batter was anyways being touted to not make the cut ahead of Yashasvi Jaiswal, who is the favorite candidate to open with Rohit Sharma.

In the all-rounder's department, Sreesanth picked MI skipper Hardik Pandya and former CSK captain Ravindra Jadeja.

In terms of bowling, Sreesanth picked a few unexpected names. He went with the obvious choices of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, and Kuldeep Yadav. But there were two players that only a handful of experts went with. He chose outcast Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal to make the cut along with 21-year-old LSG pacer Mayank Yadav.

Overall, the 2007 T20 and 2011 50-over World Cup winner has picked up a very good-looking squad that can go on to challenge for the title. The official squad announcement is expected to take place in the first week of May. It will be interesting to see who the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee picks.

Every Indian player with aspirations of making it to the World Cup squad are currently doing their best to make sure that they get noticed. The first ever 20-team T20 World Cup will begin from June 1 onwards.

The Men in Blue will begin their campaign against Ireland on June 5 before taking on Pakistan, the USA, and Canada on the 9th, 12th, and 15th of June respectively. The knockouts will begin from 19th June onwards.
