T20 World Cup 2024: Team India all set to depart for USA on May 21

Team India will reportedly leave for the US for the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 on May 21, just a day after the conclusion of the league phase of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024).
The 15-member squad for the marquee event was announced on Tuesday (April 30). Rohit Sharma will lead the team while Hardik Pandya has been named as his deputy. Yashasvi Jaiswal has been picked as Rohit's opening partner while Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav will be batting at number three and four respectively. Shivam Dube has also been included in the squad.
For the wicketkeeper's role, the selectors have picked Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson while Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel are the allrounders along with Pandya. Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav are the frontline spinners in the team while Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Arshdeep Singh will take care of the pace department.
Indian players to leave for the US on May 21:
According to a report in Cricbuzz, the first batch of Indian players will be leaving for the US on May 21. The league phase of the ongoing IPL 2024 will be concluding on May 19. All the players who won't be a part of the teams qualifying for the playoffs will be traveling to the US on May 21. Along with the players, head coach Rahul Dravid and his support staff will also leave for the US.
The second batch of players will fly to the US after the completion of the IPL final on May 26. The Indian team will be flying to New York where they are scheduled to play three of their four league games. While the tournament will get underway on June 1, India will open their campaign on June 5.
The Men in Blue are in Group A along with arch-rivals Pakistan, Ireland, co-hosts USA and Canada. They will open their campaign against Ireland on June 5 before taking on Pakistan on June 9. India will play their third league game against the USA on June 12 in New York before taking on Canada on June 15 in Lauderhill.
Team India have not won the T20 World Cup since winning the inaugural edition in 2007 and will be desperate to go all the way this year. In the last edition, they bowed out at the semifinal stage after suffering a humiliating 10-wicket defeat against eventual winners England.
