T20I Rankings: Team India Gets Rankings Boost Following T20I Series Triumph Over Australia; Seven Points Clear Of England At Top

Rohit Sharma-led Team India clinched the three-match T20I series 2-1 after a thrilling game against Aaron Finch-led side on Sunday. India won the third and final T20 against Australia by 6 wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Former Indian captain Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav guided the team to a thrilling win.
Trailing 0-1 against touring Australia, Team India bounced back in style to level the series in Nagpur, with half-centuries from Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav in the series decider on Sunday.
India improved their T20I team ranking by one point after their series win against Australia in Hyderabad. The six-wicket final over win increased their rating by one point to 268 points, which is a seven-point lead over England in the ICC T20 rankings.
Pakistan’s narrow three-run win over England in the fourth game in Karachi on Sunday helped India extend their lead. The series is still tied by winning two games each, with plenty of ranking points in the last three games in Lahore.
The upcoming three-match series against South Africa will provide India with an opportunity to play with their best XI ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia in 2022.
The Proteas are third in the team rankings with 258 points, but they could stake a claim in the upcoming series, which begins on Wednesday in Thiruvananthapuram.
Pakistan is currently tied for third place in the team standings with South Africa, with 258 points, but could move up to second if they win their remaining three matches against England. England, on the other hand, will keep second place in the rankings if they win one of those games.
New Zealand remains fifth in the T20I team standings with 252 points as Kane Williamson’s side will play Pakistan and Bangladesh in a tri-series at home before starting their campaign in the T20 World Cup.
Australia, the World Champions, dropped one point to 250 after their series loss to India. Australia will play six matches before defending their trophy at home, against the West Indies, England, and India (warm-up).
