The press release read, “The BCCI on Saturday awarded the title sponsorship rights for the Indian Premier League to TATA Group for a period of five years. The Indian conglomerate, with diverse verticals, has renewed its association with the BCCI for a record-breaking value of INR 2500 crore—the highest-ever sponsorship amount in the history of the league.”

“The TATA Group previously held the title sponsorship rights for the IPL in 2022 and 2023 and is also the title sponsor of the Women’s Premier League, the biggest women’s T20 league in the world.”

The TATA group was named the official title sponsor of the Indian Premier League in the year 2022 and replaced Dream 11. At that time TATA acquired the title sponsor rights for two years and this was the third time in the history of the league, that an Indian brand would be the title sponsor of the Indian Premier League.

A lot of money also rained on players during the 2024 auction of the IPL wherein, Australia’s Mitchell Starc became the most expensive player in the history of the tournament. Starc was picked by Kolkata Knight Riders for a whopping price of INR 24.75 crore.

The next edition of the Indian Premier League is slated to take place at the end of March 2024 and will go on till May.

The Indian Premier League has emerged to be one of the biggest leagues in the history of T20 cricket. Big names from all over the world come out to play in the cash-rich league whereas there are also hardly any international series going during the period of the league.

IPL is also a great platform for young players to express their talent and later become big names in international cricket. The IPL has produced great players such as Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal and many more.
