The Board of Cricket Scotland has resigned following the allegations of racism and the directors have already sent the letter of resignation to the interim chief executive officer, Gordan Arthur.
The resignation of the Board comes after an independent review into Cricket Scotland found it to be ‘institutionally racist’, according to a Sky News report. Also, the review is expected to be published on Monday.

Meanwhile, a Cricket Scotland spokesperson said: “Cricket Scotland will work in partnership with Sportscotland with immediate effect to ensure appropriate governance, leadership and support is in place for the organisation and the sport in the days ahead, and these arrangements will be reviewed after the publication of the report into racism in cricket in Scotland and updates given accordingly.”
Also, the board, in a letter to the interim chief executive, asserted that they are sorry to everyone who experienced racism.
“We are all truly sorry”, the board wrote. “We believe we must now step aside to enable the required progress to be made in the coming months”.
Cricket Scotland Found To Be ‘Institutionally Racist’ Following Former Player’s Allegations
Former Scottish cricketer Majid Haq, who is the highest wicket-taker of Scotland, made the allegations of racism last year and following that an independent review was conducted which found Scotland Cricket to be ‘institutionally racist’.
Haq and former Scotland batter Qasim Sheikh speaking to Sky Sports, last November, talked about the abuse they had suffered during their careers. They said that they were treated very differently because of their skin colour.
In advance of publication on Mon. we’d asked for the board to resign after being accused of being dysfunctional, institutionally racist & presiding over a culture of humiliation & bullying- Today my clients @MajidHaq @sheikhyssj1 welcome their resignation – time for real change https://t.co/TA3trJZkUL

Meanwhile, Aamer Anwar, who is representing the complaints of the former cricketers, had said that Cricket Scotland is dysfunctional and institutionally racist.
“Cricket Scotland is dysfunctional and institutionally racist – if that is confirmed by this review, it will be devastating for Cricket Scotland,” Anwar said while speaking to Sky News.
“There are those within the organisation who should be ashamed of their treatment of Majid and Qasim and so many other cricketers who gave their lives to cricket but saw their careers taken away from them. In any other walk of life, the individuals responsible would find themselves out of a job, in a jail cell, or banished from public life.
“Yet, when it comes to cricket, they are rewarded with promotions and status. Racism exists in Cricket Scotland and my clients know that has been the case for many years, through generations of cricketers,” Anwar added.
