The police in Mumbai have informed a court that the molestation allegations against Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw, made by social media influencer Sapna Gill, are determined to be “false and unfounded.” The Airport Police found no evidence supporting the accusation of molestation against Prithvi Shaw.

Sapna Gill lodged a criminal complaint against Prithvi Shaw and his friend Ashish Yadav in Andheri, Mumbai, accusing them of molesting and assaulting her with a baseball bat. Gill was arrested for allegedly attacking cricketer Shaw during an argument over selfies at a suburban hotel in Mumbai. The incident occurred in February, and based on the statement of a hotel staffer where the altercation happened, Shaw objected to Gill’s friend Shobit Thakur taking a video.

“The staffer said that when they were being escorted out, he heard Gill say that ‘dekh ab main uski kya halat karti hoon’ (Now, see what I will do to him). They then left. After half an hour, Shaw and his friends left too. The staffer said that Shaw had not misbehaved with Gill at all on February 15,” police said in the report.

Following the submission of the police report, Sapna Gill’s lawyer, Ali Kaashif Khan, requested the court allow him to present the footage recorded by Gill’s friend. The court ordered the police to submit footage of the entire incident and adjourned the matter until June 28.
