Former India National Cricket Team head coach Ravi Shastri has opened up on the Virat Kohli vs Rohit Sharma debate, saying that there is no rift between the India stars and everything is absolutely fine.

Previously, some reports have come out suggesting that two alpha-males of Indian cricket – Rohit and Kohli – have a rift and they are not at all on good terms with each other. However, it never really looked like Kohli and Rohit have any kind of differences as they always looked on friendly terms on the field.

In a video posted on Vimal Kumar’s official YouTube channel, Shastri said that the entire fiasco has been made up by media and fans and everything is first-class between Rohit and Kohli.

“To hell with them. All of this is merely time pass for you guys. I don’t have the time for this. Everything is fine. There’s good tuning between them. Everything is first-class.

“There was a 100-run partnership in between but you guys are stretching it. Keep on doing it. All of this is a very trivial matter,” Shastri told veteran journalist Vimal Kumar in an interview on his YouTube channel.

Shastri further heaped praise on Kohli and said that his knock of unbeaten 82 runs in the high-voltage ICC T20 World Cup 2022 game against Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground is one of the finest T20 knocks.

“I think in his career, that will be one of his finest T20 innings. No doubt about it, because the stage was that big. It was against Pakistan, the match was stuck for India, so to score runs there under pressure is a big thing. I don’t need to say anything. The world has seen it, they will judge it and he will put it as one of his best,” added Shastri.

The modern-day batting legend Kohli scored 296 runs in 6 World Cup innings at a staggering average of 98.66 and a strike rate of 136.40. He finished as the highest run-getter in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 and was amongst the 9 players nominated for the Player of the Tournament.
