Tim David had a good second half in the IPL for Mumbai Indians in the 2022 season. After playing just a couple of games in the first half of the season, the big-hitter was a regular feature in the side for the second half for the five-time IPL champions. He played 8 games overall for Mumbai scoring 186 runs at a strike rate of 216.28.

Tim David finished with 16 sixes in the season proving his power-hitting in the IPL. He was roped in by Mumbai in the mega auction for 8.25 crores. He replaced Kieron Pollard in the last few games for the side and was on a six-hitting spree.

Aaron Finch, the white-ball captain of the Australian cricket team has hinted at his international debut for the side soon. David was not included in the Australian T20I squad that has been announced for the series against Sri Lanka next month. However, Finch said that the big-hitter will get his chance soon. The big-hitter might well get his chance in the T20 World Cup to be played later this year in Australia.

“Yeah, I think so. He’s been in fantastic form for a while now. “The back end of the IPL was fantastic for him. He was at his brutal best. The ability to hit from ball one is a pretty rare skill and he’s done that plenty of times now. Him being so consistent, that’s something we will definitely look at over the next little while” Finch said to Fox Sports.

Finch also spoke about his own recent form. Playing for Kolkata Knight Riders, he scored 86 runs in five matches with just one fifty-plus score. He was dismissed several times inside the powerplay which hurt his team’s chances. He said that there is enough cricket to be played and he will look to get back into the runs to keep everyone off his back.

“It’s been a reasonable lean patch, I’ve been through that plenty of times in my career. At times you go through a stage when you get a heap of runs in a hurry then you go through a lean patch. That’s something to look forward to, it’s such a busy schedule of cricket it’s time to build and get back into the groove of one-day cricket especially. It would be really nice to get some big runs and keep everyone off my back for a little while” Finch said.
