Veteran Indian pacer Mohammed Shami expressed his disappointment with the team’s loss against Australia during the ICC World Cup 2023 Final encounter. Mohammed Shami thanked the supporters for their love and encouragement throughout the marquee event.
Mohammed Shami emerged as the tournament’s highest wicket-taker despite not playing in the initial matches. The right-arm pacer finished with 24 wickets in seven games at an average of 10.70. He recorded the best ODI bowling figures (7/57) for India in the semi-final.

Following the six-wicket loss against Australia in the final match, Mohammed Shami took to social media to describe it as a tough defeat to accept. Shami conveyed his gratitude to the fans for their love and encouragement.
“You win some, you lose some. Tough pill to swallow for us but we have our heads held high. Proud of this team & thanks for all love and support keep supporting & loving IN,” the pacer wrote in a message on Instagram.
Mohammed Shami made an early impact in the final by dismissing opener David Warner. However, Shami was inconsistent with the ball, as he bowled nine wides and failed to add any more wickets to his tally. Overall, he conceded 47 runs in 7 overs during the match.

Travis Head demonstrated an exceptional batting display, scoring 137 runs off 120 balls with the help of four sixes and 15 boundaries. Head added a crucial 192-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Marnus Labuschagne (58 off 110) to rescue Australia from 47/3.
