It’s A Great Honour To Be Recognized With The Award – Travis Head

Travis Head expressed his gratitude after winning the prestigious ICC award. He acknowledged the collective team effort, emphasizing that the recognition is equal for his teammates as it is for him.

“It’s a great honour to be recognised with this award, but it is a team effort. Without my team-mates across all formats this wouldn’t have happened; so these types of awards are as much for them as they are for me,” Head told the ICC.

The 29-year-old contributed with both bat and ball in the semifinal, taking crucial wickets of Heinrich Klaasen and Marco Jansen. He played a match-winning 137 knock and took a remarkable running-behind catch of Indian skipper Rohit Sharma.

Fortunate That They Kept The Faith In Me – Travis Head

Travis Head expressed delight to be part of Australia’s incredible 12-month journey, crediting the team, captain Pat Cummins, and the staff for successfully navigating various challenges.

“It’s been an incredible 12 months for the team which it has been a real privilege to be a part of. The way we have navigated a home summer, away trips to India, England, South Africa, India and the World Cup has been great credit to Pat (Cummins, the Australian captain), the players and the staff,” Head added.

“I was fortunate that they kept the faith in me for the World Cup after breaking my hand, so it was a great opportunity for me to pay them back. I felt the World Cup was amongst the best I have ever batted, so maybe having a rest before every campaign is the key,” he concluded.

Travis Head sustained a hand injury against South Africa before the World Cup and missed out on the team’s early matches. However, he made a successful comeback, playing a vital role in the team’s success in the tournament.
