Veteran New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult made history after winning the SA20 2025 final with MI Cape Town on Saturday, February 8. Trent Boult became the first player in cricket history to secure four T20 titles with four different teams under the same franchise, MI (Mumbai Indians).

MI Cape Town defeated Sunrisers Eastern Cape by 76 runs in the 2025 final in Johannesburg. The Rashid Khan-led team ended the Sunrisers' dominance, as they had won the first two editions. It is worth noting that the franchise secured their maiden SA20 title after finishing last in the previous two seasons.

First of All, the Boys Put Up a Great Performance - Trent Boult

Trent Boult picked up two wickets for just nine runs in four overs for MI Cape Town against Sunrisers Eastern Cape at The Wanderers Stadium. He was named the 'Player of the Match' for his bowling performance. During the 2025 season, Boult took 11 wickets in 11 matches for the Rashid Khan-led team.

"First of all, the boys put up a great performance. We scratched to 180 and it's very satisfying to get the job done. Beautiful place to play. The tournament is well followed. It was nice to get on a wicket that had help for the bowlers. Players stood up at the right points this season," Trent said after winning the Player of the Match.

It was one of his various triumphs under the Mumbai Indians franchise. The left-arm fast bowler was part of the Mumbai Indians team that won the 2020 IPL title, then went on to win the MLC title with MI New York in 2023, the ILT20 with MI Emirates in 2024, and the SA20 2025 title with MI Cape Town.

Trent Boult played a crucial role in the IPL 2020 final against Delhi Capitals at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. He took three wickets for 30 runs in four overs, including a first-ball dismissal of Marcus Stoinis. Boult played 15 matches in the 2020 season and finished as the third-leading wicket-taker, with 25 wickets.

Boult took 3 wickets for 34 runs in four overs in the MLC 2023 final at Grand Prairie Stadium, Texas. MI New York restricted Seattle Orcas to 183/9 in the summit clash. In his first season with MI New York, Boult was the top wicket-taker, dismissing 22 batters in eight matches during the T20 tournament.

He took 16 wickets in 12 matches during the 2024 ILT20, finishing as the third-leading wicket-taker. In the final against Dubai Capitals, he claimed 2 wickets for 20 runs in 4 overs. Meanwhile, Nicholas Pooran and Kieron Pollard have won titles with three MI franchises - Mumbai Indians, MI New York, and MI Emirates.
