Uganda Script History As They Qualify For ICC T20 World Cup 2024

Uganda Cricket Team created history as they qualified for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. They pipped Zimbabwe to became the 20th team to qualify for the tournament, slated to take in place in June next year in the Caribbean and the United States of America (USA). 

Uganda displayed a staggering performance in the Africa region qualifiers to qualify. They kick-started the tournament with an 8-wicket victory over Tanzania. After that, they suffered a disappointing 6-wicket loss against Namibia but made a strong comeback following that. 

Uganda thumped Zimbabwe by 5 wickets and made a solid statement. They extended their winning run as they pounded Nigeria by 9 wickets and Kenya by 33 runs. In their last match, they bagged a comfortable 9-wicket win over Rwanda and booked their berth in the T20 World Cup 2024. 

Overall in 6 matches, Uganda won 5 games and finished second on the points table. They had a massive NRR of +1.334. Along with them Namibia also qualified for the T20 World Cup 2024. They have been the best team in the ICC T20 World Cup African region qualifiers. 

Namibia have so far won 5 out of their 5 games in the tournament and bagged the top spot. They also defeated Uganda as well. On the other hand, it was a heartbreaking outing for Zimbabwe in the ICC T20 World Cup African region qualifiers. It was expected that they would make it easily into the tournament but it didn’t happen. 

Zimbabwe won just 3 games out of the 5 so far in the tournament. This for the second consecutive time they missed out on the ICC tournament by the barest of margins. They missed to qualify for the ICC World Cup 2023 by a whisker and now it’ll be massive heartbreak for their fans.
