"Unreal choke from India" - Arshdeep Singh slammed by fans as India vs Sri Lanka nail-biting 1st ODI gets tied

Fans on Twitter reacted after the three-match ODI series between India and Sri Lanka started on high. The first match that took place at the R.Premadasa Stadium Colombo on Friday ended in a tie.

Sri Lanka didn’t have the kind of start they would’ve wanted in their innings. They lost early wickets but Pathum Nissanka (56) held the fort for his team. The opening batter slammed a magnificent half-century and kept his team in the game but his wicket left Sri Lanka tottering at 101 for five.

After that, Janith Liyanage (20) played a vital hand but the real blitz came from the bat of Dunith Wellalage (67*). The young all-rounder batted till the end and was supported well by Wanindu Hasaranga (24).

Based on the vital hands of lower-order batters, the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team ended with a total of 230 for eight. For India, Axar Patel and Arshdeep Singh picked two wickets each while every other bowler apart from Shubman Gill picked one wicket each.

In the chase, skipper Rohit Sharma (58) took India off to a flying start with the bat. The opening batter slammed a brutal half-century and added 75 runs with Shubman Gill (16) for the first wicket.

After that, Virat Kohli (25) and Shreyas Iyer (23) made valuable contributions and stitched 43 runs for the fourth wicket. India lost wickets in quick succession and were left tottering at 132 for five. KL Rahul (31) and Axar Patel (33) after that bailed the team out of trouble.

They added a 57-run stand but Sri Lanka made a dazzling comeback and put visitors under pressure. Shivam Dube (25) held his nerves and hit some blows to take his team close to the target. However, after that skipper Charith Asalanka removed Dube along with Arshdeep Singh on two back-to-back balls to end the Indian innings on 230 as the match ended in a tie.
