Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lodged an official complaint to the International Cricket Council (ICC) over their hotel arrangements ahead of the game against India in the T20 World Cup 2024. The match between the two teams will be played at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on 9th June.
For the game against India, Pakistan will be traveling to New York from Texas, where they will be playing their first game against the USA on 6th June. But in New York, ICC had allocated them to a stadium, which was 90 minutes away from the ground.
This didn’t go well with the Pakistan Cricket Board as they raised concerns about the travel. Chairman Mohsin Naqvi wrote an official complaint to the ICC for the long travel and urged them to keep Babar Azam-led side in a hotel, which is close to the ground in New York.
Following Naqvi's intervention, the ICC changed the hotel for the team. The Pakistan National Cricket Team now have been moved to a hotel only a five-minute drive from the purpose-built stadium on Long Island in Westbury, New York.
The new accommodation, which is close to the stadium in New York, allows Pakistan to have less travel time and prepare more easily for the game against India. The Rohit Sharma-led side is also staying in a hotel, which is 10 minutes away from the ground in New York.
The development related to the change in hotel for the Pakistan team was shared by an anonymous source from the PCB to the Associated Press under the condition of anonymity due to the lack of authorization to discuss the matter publicly.
Pakistan will begin their campaign in the T20 World Cup 2024 against the United States of America. The match between the two teams will be played on Thursday (6th June) at the Grand Prairie International Stadium in Texas. They would be keen to win and start their campaign on high.
