Indian teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi broke the record for the most career sixes in Youth ODI cricket during the second U-19 ODI between India and Australia at Ian Healy Oval in Brisbane on Wednesday, September 24. The 14-year-old batter surpassed Unmukt Chand’s previous record with his 39th six.
India U19 opened with Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav after Australia U19 won the toss and chose to bowl. Mhatre perished for a duck in just two balls. On the second delivery of the first over, Mhatre attempted to pull William Byrom’s delivery, but the ball took the upper edge and went straight to the mid-off fielder.

India suffered an early setback with the loss of captain Ayush Mhatre, but Vaibhav Suryavanshi showed his aggression with the bat. He and Vihaan Malhotra rebuilt the innings with a 117-run stand that swung momentum back in India’s favour.
The Rajasthan Royals prospect scored 70 runs off 68 balls, including 5 boundaries and 6 sixes. However, he was dismissed in the 19th over, leaving India well-placed at 117/2 in 18.3 overs.
At the time of writing, India is at 221/6 after 38 overs. Vihaan Malhotra scored 70 runs off 74 balls, hitting seven boundaries and one six. However, the middle order failed to convert starts into big scores. India currently leads the series 1-0 after winning the first ODI by seven wickets.
