"Very difficult": Murali Kartik warns Ravi Bishnoi over possible action change after England setback

India vs England 3rd T20I is scheduled to take place at Trent Bridge on Tuesday. The Three Lions took a 1-0 lead over the Men in Blue after beating them in Manchester by 4 wickets. In the 2nd match, Ravi Bishnoi had the worst time of his career as he bowled four overs, leaking 60 runs and failing to pick a wicket.

Ravi Bishnoi added an unwanted record beside his name. He became the first bowler from an ICC full-member nation to bowl three no-balls in a T20I. While none of his no-balls happened due to overstepping, it occurred because he overstepped the return crease with his back foot. In the 17th over, he leaked 29 runs, which changed the course of the game in England’s favour.

"Try to get him back into that space"- Murali Kartik backs Ravi Bishnoi

Many former cricketers have slammed him for his poor performance in the last game. However, in contrast, former India spinner Murali Kartik has come in support of the leg-spinner. He believes that India's spin bowling coach could help the young leg-spinner to get back to his good space.

"The spin coach can impress upon him that this is what you did, show him footage of his old bowling and try to get him back into that space. Whether he can do it in two days depends on the individual and how comfortable he is, but technically it should not be very difficult."

"(Jasprit) Bumrah wouldn't have been Bumrah if a biomechanics expert had sat down and told him exactly what to do. (Lasith) Malinga wouldn't have been Malinga," he said.

"It is never easy to find your groove"- Murali Kartik warns Ravi Bishnoi over action change

Kartik also stated that constructing an action from scratch is rarely simple and might take years. The former spinner has cited the example of Sunil Narine, who had to remodel his action and could not find the rhythm back soon after the change, and it is not an easy process as well.

"To unlearn and relearn, to go back to the drawing board, is never easy. It takes quite a few seasons out of you. I've seen very few bowlers who can actually do it. Think of Sunil Narine. When he had to remodel his action, it took him a long time to become the Sunil Narine that he is now. It is never easy to find your groove again."

"Ravi Bishnoi can definitely do it"- Murali Kartik on Ravi Bishnoi's comeback

He also stated the opportunity for development, and Ravi Bishnoi is no exception. He noted that, while Rashid Khan's bowling motion is highly distinct and unique, with a straighter run-up that allows him to bowl above the batter's ribs, Bishnoi is capable of making comparable improvements.

"Again, coming back to your question, can something be done? Can he always be better? Of course, there is scope for improvement for everyone. Again, Rashid Khan's action is very different. He is much straighter in his run-up. He actually bowls over the ribcage of the stumps. His action is pretty unique."

"Ravi Bishnoi can definitely do it. I think that's one of the reasons why he moved back or did what he did last season when he played for LSG. That was the main reason for him to actually try and spin the ball because that's what you need in red-ball cricket. You can't be just bowling googlies and become a one-trick pony."
