Rajat Patidar, Ruturaj Gaikwad Struggle to Score Runs During Run Chase

Rest of India began the final day of the Irani Cup with a realistic chance of chasing the 361-run target, boasting a strong lineup, including experienced batters like Rajat Patidar, Ishan Kishan, and vice-captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.

However, the first session went in Vidarbha’s favor. Patidar, looking to play an aggressive shot over Aditya Thakare’s head, was brilliantly caught by the pacer, giving Vidarbha an ideal start.

Gaikwad struggled against Darshan Nalkande’s bowling and was dismissed after edging to the slips. Kishan fell to a floated delivery by Harsh Dubey, hitting it straight to Parth Rekhade. The rest of India had lost four crucial wickets in the opening session as Vidarbha took control of the game.

Yash Thakur Turns Match in Vidarbha’s Favor with Match-Defining Spell

Following the early collapse, Yash Dhull added partnerships with Saransh Jain and Manav Suthar to anchor the innings. Dhull showcased the ability to rotate the strike effectively. The stand between Dhull and Saransh reduced the target to under 150 runs, briefly putting pressure on Vidarbha.

Vidarbha regained dominance after Yash Thakur produced a match-turning spell. He took two wickets in consecutive deliveries and dismissed Dhull on the boundary line. Thakur was involved in an on-field altercation with Dhull before uprooting Anshul Kamboj’s stumps with a yorker.

The home team took the remaining two wickets to secure a 93-run victory. They won the Irani Cup for the first time since 2019, with captain Akshay Wadkar leading the celebrations.
