Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has announced Shreyas Iyer as the skipper of Mumbai and Prithvi Shaw as his deputy for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2020-2021. Mumbai had a very poor season in the recently-concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and the coach Amit Pagnis had resigned from the job. Ramesh Powar has been appointed as the new coach of the Mumbai team by the MCA for the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

In spite of the likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Adithya Tare, Dhawal Kulkarni being in the squad, MCA opted for Prithvi Shaw as the vice-captain. The Mumbai team will be looking to make a statement after having faced a lot of criticism. The MCA selected 100 players for a probable player’s camp with the seniors taking part to finalize the squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

A Big Opportunity For Prithvi Shaw

Prithvi Shaw who had a dismal tour of Australia was dropped from the Indian squad after a string of low scores. The problem was about the way he was dismissed revealing a lot of technical flaws. His feat movement was also questioned a lot, and experts felt that it was time for Prithvi to work on his technical aspect of the game. Being the vice-captain of the team, Prithvi will be hoping to score a lot more runs to break into the Indian team again.
