Virat Kohli Smashed His 30th Test Century on Day 4 of the Perth Test
Kohli scored his 30th Test century on Day 3 of the Perth Test against Australia. He silenced critics after a lean patch where he managed under 100 runs in six innings against New Zealand. He redeemed himself with an unbeaten 100 runs off 143 after being dismissed for just five runs in the first innings.
Following the knock, the 36-year-old surpassed Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most centuries by an Indian batter on Australian soil. He hit his seventh Test century on Australian soil in his fifth tour. He further cements his reputation as one of India’s most successful batters in Australia.
Cannot Get A Better Stage And To Set Up The Series - Ravi Shastri
Former Team India head coach Ravi Shastri lauded Virat Kohli for his exceptional performance during the Perth Test against Australia. Speaking to Fox Cricket, Shastri stated that Kohli's seven Test centuries show his ability to excel on challenging, bouncy pitches.
"I doubt an overseas player in the last 15 years has come to Australia and played in this fashion. Seven hundreds in Australia. The big stage, the big ground. One of the bounciest pitches in the world. He plays two Test matches and he gets two hundreds. You cannot get a better stage and to set up the series," Shastri told Fox Cricket (as quoted by ANI).
The Delhi-born cricketer will be next seen in action during the second Test match between India and Australia, scheduled to be played at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide, starting on December 6. India took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series after a 295-run victory in the series opener in Perth.
