Virat Kohli breaks yet another Sachin Tendulkar record as he completes 27,000 runs

Virat Kohli, on Monday (September 30), added yet another feather to his already illustrious cap. The former India skipper achieved the incredible feat during day four of the ongoing second India vs Bangladesh Test at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.

Virat Kohli became the fastest batsman to reach 27,000 runs in international cricket. The record was previously held by none other than the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. The former India batsman had reached 27,000 runs in international cricket in his 623rd innings back in 2007.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli reached the milestone in his 594th innings. He also became only the fourth cricketer after Tendulkar, Australia's Ricky Ponting, and Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara to reach 27,000 international runs. Sangakkara reached the milestone in his 648th innings while Ponting took 650 innings for the same.

Among active cricketers, Kohli is the only player to achieve the milestone. Last year, Kohli had also become the fastest to 25,000 and 26,000 international runs.

Virat Kohli's quickfire knock:

Virat Kohli played a quickfire knock in the ongoing second Test against Bangladesh as India continued their aggressive approach with the bat. With no action taking place on day two and three of the Test match due to rain and wet outfield, the Test finally resumed on day four.

Bangladesh started the proceedings on 107/3. Even though Mominul Haque scored an unbeaten century, he found little support from the other end. In the end, Bangladesh were all out for just 233 runs. India's openers then came out all guns blazing with the bat, making it clear that the hosts still have not given up on winning the Test.

Captain Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal took India to 51 runs in just three overs. They added 55 runs for the first wicket before Rohit departed after scoring 23 runs off 11 balls. On the other hand, Jaiswal smashed 72 runs from only 51 balls. Shubman Gill also played a quick knock of 39 runs while Rishabh Pant could score only 9.

Kohli, on the other hand, looked in good touch and scored 47 runs from just 35 balls. At the time of writing this report, India were on 270/6 in the 33rd over. KL Rahul and Ravichandran Ashwin were at the crease. Rahul was batting on 66 runs from just 39 balls while Ashwin was unbeaten on 1.
