Virat Kohli started his IPL journey with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and he is still with the same franchise in the ongoing 2025 season. Virat Kohli’s deep connection with Royal Challengers Bengaluru and its fans is well known to all, as he has not left the franchise despite waiting for the title for 18 years.

Recently, Kohli has indirectly launched a potshot at the trolls as well as five-time IPL-winning captains Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni through his loyalty and relationship remark. When asked if he ever thought of leaving the franchise, Kohli said that the love from RCB fans means more to him than any trophy.

Virat Kohli’s loyalty jab silences trolls

The dashing right-hander didn’t need a trophy to silence the noise, as his words hit harder than any on-field shot. Critics and trolls often drag Virat into comparisons with Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni’s legacy, but the former RCB skipper made it clear that some bonds go beyond silverware.

In just a few but strong words, the former Indian captain reminded everyone that loyalty, relationship, mutual respect, and the love of millions are more valuable to him than silverware.

Virat Kohli said on RCB’s podcast, “For me, what's more valuable is the relationship and the mutual respect that has been created over so many years. The love that I've received from the fans, I don't think any silverware or any trophy can come close to that.

Suresh Raina says Anushka Sharma gave Virat Kohli the edge he needed

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina recently praised Anushka Sharma for the powerful impact she’s had on Virat Kohli’s life and career. From handling pressure moments to finding new motivation as a father, Raina believes that Anushka has played a big part in that.

Suresh Raina was quoted as saying by Filmygyan: “Look at Virat when he was with Anushka, when he had a kid. He scored 100 against Pakistan when the pressure chips were down... Now he’s playing for the kids. I’m so happy for her family also. Anushka she’s been brilliant around. His giving that edge, that you go... It only happens when your family is with you.”

Suresh Raina slams BCCI’s restrictions on families

Raina questioned BCCI over restrictions on cricketers' families during tournaments, saying it is totally beyond his understanding why players are kept away from their biggest source of comfort and motivation. He signed off by saying, “And BCCI says his wife and kids are not allowed... Why? There will be pressure. Everyone has their own mental space. He gets happiness with his partner. Being a father and a husband is a completely different experience.

Notably, in the ongoing IPL 2025, both Kohli and RCB are on fire. While RCB is inches away from securing a playoff berth, having won seven of their 10 games so far in the tournament, Kohli is currently the fifth leading run scorer with 443 runs.

He will be next seen in action on Saturday, May 3, when RCB will take on Chennai Super Kings in their next IPL 2025 clash at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
