A heated debate has sparked about whether Virat Kohli truly suffered a neck sprain during India’s recent Test tour of Australia or if the entire episode was just a lie to avoid participating in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25 since BCCI mandates Domestic Cricket for every national player.

Virat Kohli’s participation in Delhi’s upcoming Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match has been a hot topic among the cricket fraternity for the past few days. India’s batting icon has been included in Delhi’s probable squad for their Ranji match against Saurashtra, starting on January 23 in Rajkot.

Pant is also likely to play Delhi’s final group match in the first-class competition. Well, recently a Times of India report claimed that Virat Kohli sustained a neck sprain during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Australia, and even he had to take injections to manage the alleged sprain.

Some reports claimed that Kohli sustained a neck sprain during the Sydney Test. The former Indian captain has neither made himself available nor has been declared unfit for Delhi’s upcoming Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match against Saurashtra.

Amidst the swirling claims, sources revealed some shocking details about Kohli’s alleged neck sprain that would stun the cricket world. According to a Revsportz journalist, Virat Kohli has not suffered any injury on the Australia tour.

A Revsportz journalist has posted on X: “Did Virat sustain a neck sprain in Sydney? Did he have to take any injections? Sources say there wasn’t any injury in Australia.”

This revelation has sparked a wave of controversy, leaving fans questioning the real story behind Virat’s alleged injury or if it is merely a cover-up not to follow BCCI’s instruction to turn up for his state team in the Ranji Trophy despite going through a rough phase of his career.

Rishabh Pant denies Delhi's captaincy in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant was offered the opportunity to lead Delhi in the upcoming Ranji clash against Saurashtra, but the India star denied it. As reported by Sportstar, Rishabh Pant refused to accept the opportunity, allowing Ayush Badoni to remain as Delhi's skipper in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25.

In the ongoing Ranji Trophy season, the Delhi cricket team is placed in Group D, and they have played five matches so far. They have so far won only one match while suffering one defeat and drawing three games. With 14 points, Delhi is currently standing at the fourth spot in the Group D standings.
