Virat Kohli fans target 'Philips' brand after Glenn Phillips' stunning catch during IND vs NZ clash

However, something unexpected happened after he completed the catch. The fans of Virat Kohli hurled some brutal abuses at the 'Philips' brand, which is a Dutch multinational conglomerate corporation known for making bulbs and other electronic products.

Virat Kohli's fans target 'Philips' brand
The fans were unable to differentiate between the 'Philips' brand and Glenn Phillips, who is the New Zealand international cricketer. Hence, a no. of abuses were aimed at the brand's comment section on social media.

Virat Kohli has a huge fan following globally and this was another example of that. He has the highest fan following on Instagram among cricketers. Such incidents of fans targeting a particular player or similar names are not new.
Last month, Kohli was dismissed by Railways' Himanshu Sangwan on his Ranji Trophy comeback. After his wicket, a no. of users named 'Himanshu Sangwan' were targeted on social media despite them not having to do anything with his dismissal.
Glenn Phillips flies to dismiss Virat Kohli
Glenn Phillips took an unbelievable high-flying catch to dismiss Virat Kohli during the initial stages of India's innings against New Zealand. It was a catch that stunned the whole crowd in Dubai.
Matt Henry bowled a short ball outside off stump which Kohli smashed it through the point region. The ball looked destined to go to the fence but Phillips had other ideas. He flung himself to the right, leaped in the air, and took the catch the catch with one hand.
Kohli had hit the ball perfectly but he fell short to Phillips' amazing athleticism The 36-year-old was dismissed for 11 off 14 balls as India were reduced to 30-3 inside the first powerplay.
Shreyas Iyer, and Axar Patel revive India after early dismissals
After an early stutter, India's innings got back on track, thanks to Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel. The duo stitched together a partnership of 90 runs for the fourth wicket to bring India back into the game.
Both of them took their time before starting to play their shots. Axar was dismissed for 42 off 61 balls while Iyer top-scored with a valiant 79 off 98 balls.
India lost some quick wickets in the end as they struggled to score quick runs off a slow pitch in Dubai and some tight bowling from New Zealand's bowlers. Hardik Pandya played an important hand in the end to help India register a competitive total.
