Virat Kohli’s childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma, has stated that the 32-year-old Indian Test captain has been a “responsible representative” of the BCCI for quite a while now.
Kohli became the face of Indian cricket following his excellent performances. His style of play is not accepted by everybody but the standards that the right-handed batter maintains are quite high. What helps him a lot is the preparation that goes into each and every series he plays.

“Virat’s hunger for scoring runs has increased now. He’s not been able to score big for a while now. His preparation is always good when he takes on top opposition and he prepares his team like that too. Kohli is BCCI’s blue-eyed boy. He has been leading for several years and is the most responsible representative of BCCI,” Sharma stated.

While the previous captain, MS Dhoni, was a lot calmer and composed and rarely showed emotions on the field, Virat Kohli is the polar opposite. The seasoned batter grabs the attention of the cameras during match time and is someone who always displays his emotions.
Another thing that is important to Kohli is clear communication inside the team. In order to be successful, the team needs to have the same vim and vigour and the hunger to win as Kohli does. It is also important for head coach, Rahul Dravid, to be on the same page as Kohli, Sharma implied.

“Every captain has a different style and a coach has to gel with him. MS Dhoni was captain before Kohli took over. One did not have to say many things to him as he was a cool campaigner, and he also was not very expressive. Kohli, on the other hand, is very aggressive and he is clear of what he wants from his team,” Sharma added.
India will be playing a 3-match Test series against South Africa starting on December 26.
