Virat Kohli finally ended the quest for his IPL title as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL 2025 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium on June 3. In the post-match interviews, Kohli took a dig at Rohit Sharma by claiming he never prefers to play as an impact player.
Rohit Sharma played as an impact player for the whole IPL 2025 season, as he just batted in the IPL 2025 and was not involved with the bowling unit or in clutch moments of the matches.

Virat Kohli was enjoying his moment after winning the maiden IPL trophy, then Matthew Hayden joined him for a quick interview during the celebration about his future in the IPL.
Kohli highlighted his ability and strengths, which help him to play 20 overs and field 20 overs, and he’ll never prefer to play as an impact player in the IPL. Kohli wants to make an impact in the field also, as not every time he’ll score runs in the IPL.
"I can't play as an impact player, I want to feel 20 overs and make an impact in the field. That's the kind of player I have been. And God has blessed me with that perspective, with the talent. And then you find different ways to help the team," Virat Kohli stated after the victory.
It is not clear whether Kohli was aiming at Rohit Sharma for playing as an impact player or not, but the Indian ODI skipper played most of his matches as an impact player and fans felt Kohli was firing shots at Rohit.
