The cover drive is a classic batting stroke in the game that is one of the biggest indicators of a batsman’s elegance and finesse. While the perfect execution results in one of the aesthetically pleasing shots in the game, a slight mistake could cost the player his wicket. India superstar Virat Kohli and Pakistan’s batting mainstay Babar Azam are widely considered two of the best players of the cover drive.

In fact, the cover drive is the signature shot of both players who have the ability to play all around the ground. Time and again, fans compare their cover drives on social media.

While there is still debate over who executes the better cover drive between Kohli and Babar, Afghanistan star Rahmanullah Gurbaz has revealed his preference. The wicketkeeper-batsman was recently posed with the question during a Q&A interview by ESPNcricinfo. Rahmanullah Gurbaz took his time before eventually picking Kohli over Babar.

Virat Kohli and Babar Azam to return to action soon:

Both Virat Kohli and Babar Azam have not played any international game since the World Cup last month. While Virat Kohli’s last appearance came in the final against Australia, Babar’s last appearance came against England during the league stage.

Soon after the World Cup ended, Babar stepped down as the captain in all three formats after Pakistan failed to do well in the tournament. The Men in Green failed to progress ahead of the league stage after managing just four wins in nine games. He has been replaced by Shan Masood and Shaheen Afridi as the Test and T20I captains respectively.

Babar will return to action this week when Pakistan take on Australia in the first of the three-match Test series. The match is scheduled to begin on Thursday (December 14) in Perth. On the other hand, Virat Kohli will be seen in action next when India take on South Africa in the two-match Test series, starting on December 26.
