Suryakymar Yadav will have a key role to play against Australia feels Navjot Singh Sindhu. The former Indian cricketer has recently praised the Indian batter for being one of the mainstays of the Indian batting lineup.
SKY has not had as good a tournament as he would have liked. He scored 53 off 28 balls against Afghanistan but then went out cheaply against Bangladesh scoring just six runs. The batter must make his opportunity count against Australia in this crucial quarterfinal.
Speaking to Star Sports, Sidhu shed light on SKY's ability to take on any bowling attack and torment them around the world. He believes that if he plays to his ability, he can win the match single-handedly for India.
Will Observe Suryakumar Yadav Closely: Navjot Singh Sidhu
"You cannot lose the match if Suryakumar Yadav scores a fifty. He is one of the wonders of the cricketing world. He just knows in his computer (brain) where fielders aren't placed and manufacture shots in those areas at will. I will be observing Suryakumar pretty closely" Sidhu said on SKY.
The former Indian opener picked out Pat Cummins as the other player to watch out for in this clash alongside SKY. He said that the impact both these players make could be the deciding factor in the game.
"Pat Cummins will be as hungry as a wolf, fresh off a hat-trick. He is such a bowler that if he bowls with the new ball against our two engine rooms Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, and if they aren't stopped, then they will set the platform on which the building (mammoth total) will be formed" Sidhu added.
Meanwhile, the India-Australia will have large-scale implications for the group. If India beats Australia and Afghanistan beats Bangladesh, India, and Afghanistan will be two teams qualifying for the semi-final and Australia will stand eliminated.
The toss took place a little bit earlier. Australia won the toss and opted to field first asking India to bat. India are playing with an unchanged side which looks settled now. Australia brought in Mitchell Starc in place of Ashton Agar. Starc could threaten Rohit and expose his recent weakness against left-arm spinners.
"We would have fielded first as well, looks a bit sticky. We wanted to chase. We know what exactly we are doing, and will try to do our best. I hope it doesn't change much. The overhead conditions also matter in this part of the world. We have adapted well, hopefully another game where we put up a show. Every game matters in this tournament, nothing changes. We are playing the same team," said Rohit after the toss.
