Virat Kohli hits a magnificent half-century

Kohli, who has been going through a lean patch, failed to perform in the second ODI against England after missing the first ODI due to an injury.

He had to walk in to bat early in the third ODI as Rohit Sharma was cleaned up by Mark Wood on the first ball of the 2nd over. Kohli started off cautiously in the innings and the luck was in his side too.

A few edges landed away from the fielders, and Kohli also escaped a run-out after being involved in a horrible mix-up with Shubman Gill.

After spending some time in the middle, Kohli got back his rhythm and played some remarkable strokes. He reached the half-century mark off just 50 balls and his innings was studded with 7 fours and 1 six.

Virat Kohli was eventually dismissed in the 19th over of the innings. On the last delivery of the over, Adil Rashid bowled a ripper to the Indian batter and the ball took the edge of the bat to go straight into the hands of Phil Salt.

Kohli, who had a good chance to complete his century, walked back to the hut after scoring 52 runs off 55 balls.

Is Virat Kohli Adil Rashid's Bunny?

The dismissal at the Narendra Modi Stadium was the 5th time that Adil Rashid had dismissed Kohli in ODI cricket. The duo have come face to face 10 times in ODIs and Kohli has scored 112 runs off 130 balls bowled by the veteran leg-spinner.

Kohli has an average of 22.40 and a strike rate of 86.15 in ODI cricket against Adil Rashid. Overall, Rashid had dismissed the Indian batting maestro 11 times in international cricket. This is joint-most by a bowler against Kohli alongside Tim Southee and Josh Hazlewood.

Kohli's record against leg spin has been quite poor in recent times, as in the last 40 balls that he has faced; the batter has registered just 26 runs while being dismissed four times.
